Thank you! Try reconnecting the Touch ID flex. If the same issue persists, even with the old screen, I believe you may have damaged the flex. Every time I repair a screen and transfer the home button, I heat the bottom of the display with a hot air gun for at least a 45 seconds to 1 minute so I can remove the flex with ease.

The only fix through Apple or an AASP is a complete replacement (with exchange) or the front screen assembly. It requires access to Apple's proprietary security equipment to pair the home button to the logic board. There is no way around this. You have to use the original home button with this repair. Any replacement home button will not function without being coded to the board. As for the sensitivity, it could be a faulty home button connectors which is attached to the display.
