Left 4 Dead 2. All Discussions reading the documentation found nothing about functions to change the sv_cheats except from typing it in console as all of you mention.

As far as I know, they changed the way you do cheats. You have to do sv_cheats 1 in the main menu, then type in map (map file name here). It's really stupid.

Enable the console through the keyboard/mouse options. Then type: map . then space you can go to any map you want this way. The maps are sorted in order in the way that the have the campaigns numbered. So "c3_" would be the third campaign. Starting a map using the command rather then the main menu will then allow you to enable: sv_cheats 1
Right Click the "Left 4 Dead 2 Demo" option then select "Properties". Select "Set Launch options" then enter -console and accept it. Start the game, and the console window should now appear. Enter bind p toggleconsole as a console command. Click and close the console window and start a single player game.
It should be an officially celebrated and supported feature of MOST games yet it's not. Left 4 Dead 2 always says "go to the main menu and use map mapname to start your own listen server so you can use sv_cheats 1". I NEED sv_cheats 1 to change the CVARs to my liking yet it still won't work despite using the MAP command from the main menu.
